As most experts predicted, 2009 has been a boom year so far
for bankruptcy filings, and the number of new cases is approaching
pre-2005 levels!
Unemployment rates are way, way up and climbing.
Foreclosures continue to skyrocket, despite government
efforts to stem the tide. Credit limits have been lowered
by many lenders, cutting off the ability of some consumers to
live on borrowed funds. These signs, and others, indicate the
worst is not yet over.
How is your credit union handling your bankruptcy
caseload? Are you able to review each case to determine
exactly what your credit union's rights are and how to protect
them, or is money leaking out the door because cases are not
being handled -- or aren't being handled quickly enough? Are
you complying with all applicable laws, or are delays and errors
placing your credit union at risk?
Do
you need practical, specific, detailed
and clear training regarding
what bankruptcy law allows -- and doesn't allow -- you to do? Do
you need more than war stories or general principles and PowerPoint
slides? Have you had enough of being told "you can't," and
are you ready to learn what you can do to protect your
rights in bankruptcy?
Find out why hundreds of credit union professionals
consider the annual NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conferences to be the
gold standard in bankruptcy training, and why many return year
after year to update and polish their skills.

What Is the NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference?
The NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference is an in-depth four or five
day (your choice) program designed to provide credit union
professionals with the thorough, in-depth, practical information
and training they need in order to analyze and fight consumer
bankruptcy cases. The conference is jointly hosted by
credit union leagues and associations from more than forty
states,
by NorthLegal Training and Publications, and by the law firm
of Moore, Brewer, Jones, Tyler & North. >>For

Who Teaches the Program
The conference classes are taught primarily by credit union attorney
Eric M. North, a nationally-known attorney who has represented
the interests of credit unions for more than twenty five years,
and who has taught thousands of credit union professionals
from around the country how to understand and comply with the
laws that govern them.
Occasionally, other speakers are added to the program to address
particular subjects or to bring a unique perspective to the topic
of bankruptcy. Watch this site see if guest speakers will
participate in the next NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference.
Who
Attends the Program?
The conference is designed to provide information that will benefit
new bankruptcy collectors, experienced bankruptcy collectors,
and those who supervise them. (To help those who are
new to the bankruptcy world prepare, two archived NorthLegal
Webinars are made available free to registered participants
the week before the program begins!) We are proud to say that,
although we have many new participants each year, a substantial
number of participants return year after year because they
believe they learn valuable new information each time.
When and Where Are Upcoming Conferences Scheduled?
The next NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference will be held in August 2009 at the
Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

What is the Conference Schedule,
and What is the "Special
Session"?
The
main conference begins Monday morning and will
end at noon on Thursday. However, for those who want to get the
absolute most out of the program and who can spare the extra day,
a special session is held Thursday afternoon and Friday morning,
to give participants an opportunity to work through hypothetical
cases and role playing exercises. This special session usually
is attended by a smaller group, which provides participants with
an opportunity to discuss issues in a more relaxed atmosphere.
