Conference Location

In January 2009, the NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference will return to Florida -- this time to The Royal Plaza at the Walt Disney Resort in Lake Buena Vista.  This location will provide participants with easy access to the Orlando airport, and with the opportunity to visit local attractions such as Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios during evenings after the conference concludes each day.

Compared to Las Vegas Conference

There will be little difference between the material presented during the conference held in January in Lake Buena Vista and the conference held in August in Las Vegas. The purpose of conducting the program twice is to make it more available to credit unions in different parts of the country, credit unions with different schedules, and credit unions with different travel preferences.

Credit union attorney Eric North will be the primary speaker at each location, but there may be a difference in guest speakers.  Although it is not certain yet that there will be a guest speaker, in the past we have been joined by local judges, a trustee, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and other attorneys.)  Watch this page for more information as it develops.

Registering for the Conference

The conference remains priced the same as it has for each of the past four years.

Register by October 31 for $675*
Register between November 1 and December 26 for $750*
Register after December 26 for $825*

The registration fee covers the pre-conference "Introduction to Bankruptcy" webinar, the conference, detailed handout materials (including sample form letters), a full lunch on Monday, a continental breakfast each morning, and afternoon break packages. The registration fee does not cover hotel accommodations or, if you choose it, the "special session" option.

* These prices assume the participant is a registered guest at The Royal Plaza Resort. Because the conference meeting room and food costs are calculated based in part on the number of registered hotel guests, it is important that participants register and stay at the conference hotel. The registration fees set forth above will be increased by $50.00 for any participant who is not a registered guest at The Royal Plaza Resort. This may be waived for participants who live locally and commute, or for those who share a room with another participant, if you request it.

Making Hotel Reservations

The Royal Plaza in the Walt Disney Resort has agreed to lower its rate for conference participants to only $139.00 per night. Those who are familiar with this hotel and with hotels in the vicitiy will know this is an excellent rate!  You will probably want to register for at least Sunday through Wednesday evenings, but this special rate will be available three days before and three days after that time (based on availability). You may make reservations in either of two ways:

  • Online Reservations: Click here.
  • Telephone Reservations: 800.248.7890

If you reserve your room under a name other than the name of the person registered for the conference, please be sure to let us know by sending an email to NLC@culaw.com.

Be aware! The Royal Plaza Resort is only holding a block of rooms for conference participants until a few weeks before the program! When that block has filled, or when that date has passed (whichever occurs first), even if the conference still has seating available, rooms at the Royal Plaza Resort may be difficult to obtain!
