The
Automatic Stay
(For Beginners and Experts)
A NorthLegal Webinar

Program
Description
It's one of the most important concepts in bankruptcy,
and it's one of the most misunderstood. It's something every person
at the credit union who may come into contact with a debtor needs to
understand: the automatic stay. If you think you're frustrated
by debtors who avoid repayment of their debts through bankruptcy, imagine
how you'll feel if you have to pay money to such a debtor because you said
the wrong thing at the wrong time!
The
Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act makes important
changes to the rules relating to the automatic stay, while leaving
other important parts intact. Credit unions have new
protections, but
face more complicated rules.
Join
credit union attorney Eric North for this prerecorded, information-packed,
90 minute webinar focusing on this specific and very important subject!
During this program, you will learn about:
- New
automatic stay rules that protect creditors from serial filings.
- New
automatic stay rules that can help you obtain reaffirmations.
- New
limitations on penalties for violation of the automatic stay.
- How
common myths about the automatic stay cause losses and place creditors
at risk.
- Exactly
what the automatic stay does and doesn't prohibit.
- When
the credit union is entitled to relief from the automatic stay.
- Keys
to analyzing and resolving automatic stay problems.
This
program should be required not only for bankruptcy specialists and
collectors, but for those who supervise them as well! This is an opportunity
for everyone to learn about this topic, to test their existing understanding,
or to just get the latest information, all for one price.
NOTE: This program is intended for employees of credit unions. If you are
