Program Description
Credit union services -- does every member get equal treatment?  Must you offer all services to all members?

Suppose the member isn't paying.  Maybe he's bankrupt, maybe he's not, but for whatever reason he isn't paying back the money he borrowed.   Or maybe the member is argumentative or otherwise causes problems every time she comes into the branch.  Do you still have to provide that member with services?

When can your credit union refuse to allow a member to maintain a checking account?  Check cashing privileges?  A share account?  Payroll deduction?   ATM access?  Online bill payment?  Wire transfers?

May you expel the member from the credit union entirely?  May you condition continued membership on payment of the debt?

Does bankruptcy make a difference?  Are you really protected by that "we deny services to anyone who causes us a loss" policy your credit union has?

Join credit union attorney Eric North on February 22 for answers to these and related questions.  Learn just what credit union regulations and bankruptcy law do and don't allow you to do, and learn how to evaluate the risks of proceeding where the law is not clear.   During this program, you will learn:

• When denying services is a violation of the automatic stay, and when it isn't.
• What the Bankruptcy Code has to say about refusing to allow bankrupt members the same benefits as other members.
• What services the NCUA requires all credit union members receive.
• What courts have to say about denying services and negotiating with members.
and much more!

Take advantage of this opportunity to get the very latest information for collectors who enforce cross collateral clauses, lenders who obtain them, and managers who approve them, all for one low price!

NOTE: This program is intended for employees of credit unions. If you are not a credit union employee, please contact The North Law Firm to obtain approval before registering.
