With foreclosures and mortgage delinquencies soaring across the nation, many borrowers and courts, and even members of Congress, are looking to bankruptcy law for a solution!

This increased focus on bankruptcy as a way not just to prevent or delay foreclosure, but even to reduce or wipe out real property loans, is likely to affect all credit unions in the coming year -- whether or not you make real property loans.

Now is the time to separate fact from fiction, and make certain you know what a debtor can and can't do, and what rights and obligations you as a real property lender have, in Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy!

During this 90 minute NorthLegal Webinar, credit union attorney Eric North discusses:

Do you know what actions -- other than violating the automatic stay -- can result in sanctions from the bankruptcy court?
What a debtor can and can't do with respect to real property-secured loans (including HELOCs) through bankruptcy.
Why some debtors argue they are already allowed to "cram down" second mortgages to the value of the property -- and whether they're right!
Whether a creditor may increase an interest rate, or add fees to, a real property loan during Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
The actions some real property lenders (including credit unions) take that may trigger lawsuits in Chapter 13 cases.
What effect legislation now pending in Congress would have on the rights of real property borrowers and on the duties of lenders.

and a lot more!

Like other NorthLegal Webinars, this program gives your credit union the opportunity to train several staff members for a single low price, right in the convenience of your office!
