Bankruptcy law is a complex subject, and one about which attorneys and even courts often disagree.

But the failure to understand exactly what the rules are can result in lost opportunities to collect debt, wasted time, and, in some instances, expensive litigation and penalties against the credit union!

It's important that each credit union have a staff that is well-trained to handle bankruptcy matters; "faking it" or "learning on the job" can cost many times more than you would spend training staff right in the first place!

This Internet training program will provide both legal and practical information to new collectors who are just learning about bankruptcy, to experienced bankruptcy collectors who want a refresher

and to be sure they're doing the very best they can for their credit union, for lenders or credit committee members who want to understand bankruptcy in order to help them make better loans, and to management team or board members who understand they need enough general knowledge about the subject to allow them to properly guide those they are paid to supervise

During this program, credit union attorney Eric North talks with participants about:

"Eric makes what would ordinarly be dry material interesting, with his stories and animated delivery style."

"Eric always does a fabulous job of boiling down a very complex subject into understandable bits."

What the different types ("chapters") of bankruptcy are, what each was designed to do, how they differ from one another, and how each affects your credit union.
Generally, what things credit union collectors should look for when attempting to maximize recovery through bankruptcy.
Why rules are different in various parts of the country -- even though we all follow the same law -- and what your credit union can do about it.
The language of bankruptcy: what the various words used by attorneys, courts, and bankruptcy professionals mean.
An introduction to the "automatic stay" -- when it begins and ends and how it affects your credit union.

and much more!

Like other NorthLegal Webinars, this program gives your credit union the opportunity to train several staff members for a single low price, right in the convenience of your office!
