In February 2015, NorthLegal presented a comprehensive webinar regarding the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA")—a law exploding on popularity among consumer lawyers. (There were 14 TCPA cases filed in 2008. There were 1,908 filed just in the first nine months of 2014!)

On July 10, 2015, the Federal Communications Commission issued more than 80 pages of new interpretations of the TCPA!

Some of those new interpertations will be welcome to consumer financial institutions, but others will significantly increase your potential liability. (Many financial institutions who recently developed policies and procedures designed to comply with the law and protect them from liability may now have to revise those policies and procedures!)

During this webinar, attorney Eric North talks with participants about the new FCC interpretations, how they affect financial institutions, and what options you have to deal with them. (Although a certain amount of background information will be included, the program will focus on the new interpretations.) Topics include—

These new interpretations present both opportunity and risk. You can be sure consumers' lawyers are studying them carefully. Sign up for this program to learn how they affect your financial institution!

Note: This program addresses TCPA issues that relate to all types of calls placed to cell phones and certain other numbers. Although the information presented applies equally to calls about marketing, other TCPA rules that relate only to marketing calls will not be discussed.)

NOTE: This program is intended for employees of consumer lending institutions. Please contact NorthLegal Training and Publications to obtain approval before registering if you are not an employee of a consumer lending institution.
